Case Study:
Blues on Broadbeach

Market Research & Economic Impact Study

Located in the heart of the Gold Coast, Blues on Broadbeach showcases a diverse lineup of international and local artists across multiple indoor and outdoor stage, making it a must-attend event on the international blues circuit. It is recognized as one of Australia’s largest free music festivals.

As a long-term partner of IER, the event organizers, Experience Gold Coast (EGC), enlisted IER to estimate attendance for the four-day music festival. Additionally, IER was tasked with assessing the event’s economic, social, environmental, and experiential impacts.

IER implemented a multifaceted approach, using a combination of technology, drone imaging, and density counts to accurately measure attendance. This strategy not only provided an estimate of event attendees but also offered valuable insights into crowd behaviours and trends for EGC.

Developing sampling plans for a multi-day, multi-location event like Blues on Broadbeach requires meticulous planning to ensure the efficient deployment of the field research team. This approach ensures that the collected samples accurately reflect the larger population, enhancing the representativeness of the data and increasing the reliability of the study’s conclusions.
