This Research Privacy Policy outlines the privacy policy governing the use of customer data. It outlines how the IER protects your privacy rights and upholds its obligations under privacy law, when handling your personal information.
IER Trading Pty. Ltd. (ABN 92 660 213 721) respects and upholds your rights under the AustralianPrivacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) and the European Union’sGeneral Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). IER also adheres to the Privacy (Market and SocialResearch) Code 2014 (Code). How is personal information collected?
IER will generally collect your personal information directly from you in the course of you participating in our research and/or surveys. However, we may also from time to time collect personal information about you from third parties, such as when a client provides us with a list of sample data to use in conducting our research.
If this is the case, we will inform you that we have received your personal information as soon as is practicable and the circumstances of the collection. At this time, you will be provided with an opportunity to decline participation and opt-out of any research process. If you elect to do so, we will delete any of your personal information in our possession, as soon as is reasonably practicable.
What personal information does IER collect, and why?
When you opt to receive a customer research survey and fill in the survey online, we are likely to collect personal information about you. IER will not use personal information about you for marketing and research purposes unless you have consented to receiving further emails by ticking the opt-in. If you opt-in to receive further communication, this will be from the client with whom you have the relationship. You can unsubscribe at any time – all you need to do is select ‘Unsubscribe’ on the eDM (electronic direct mail) that you receive.
For each visitor to the Customer Direct (survey) website, the server automatically recognises and stores the visitor’s domain name, but not their email address. In addition, our website uses cookies.Most web browsers are set by default to accept cookies. However, if you do not wish to receive any cookies you may set your browser to either prompt or refuse cookies. We also use cookies for tracking the statistics of our website. This allows us to better understand our users and improve the layout and functionality of our website. This tracking is conducted in such a way to ensure the anonymity of visitors.
Will personal information be given to anyone else?
IER does not sell personal information. IER will only disclose personal information if this is required by law or permitted under the Privacy Act. Unless otherwise stated, all surveys undertaken by IER is for the purpose of collecting information on an anonymous basis and the information you provide is available only in aggregate form. This aggregated data does not identify individuals. IER uses the aggregated data for research purposes and may share the data with third parties.
Security of personal information
IER protects the personal information it collects in a secure database. IER employees are required, as a condition of their employment, to treat personal information held by IER as confidential, and to maintain the confidentiality of that personal information. Once the survey is closed, IER deletes any personal data that had been collected in this process (unless you have opted in to being contacted again by the client)
IER will take reasonable steps to protect your personally identifiable information as you transmit your information from your computer to our survey platform and to protect such information from loss, misuse, and unauthorised access, use, modification, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
However, you should keep in mind that the transmission of information over the Internet is never completely secure or error-free. In particular, e-mail sent to or from this website may not be secure, and you should therefore take special care in deciding what information you send to us via e-mail. IER uses a secure portal for the completion of online surveys.
Access and correction
Under the Privacy Act, you have a right to seek access to information which IER holds about you. You also have the right to ask us to correct information about you which is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.
