Case Study:
Clare Valley SCA Gourmet Week

Market Research & Economic Impact Study

Since its inception in 1985, Clare Valley SCA Gourmet Week has been a cornerstone of South Australia’s food and wine culture, making it the longest-running event of its kind in the country. Over the years, it has become a beloved tradition for food and wine enthusiasts, now recognised as a hallmark of regional celebrations.

Gourmet Week, spanning multiple days and locations, features a diverse lineup of over 85 events. To accurately capture a representative sample of data from various days and venues, it was essential to implement a well-structured research approach. In response, IER designed a tailored research plan for each venue, ensuring the collection of valuable data across the entire festival.

IER has partnered with Clare Valley SCA Gourmet Week since 2022, delivering presentation style reports that provide a comprehensive analysis of the event’s economic contribution, as well as broader consumer insights. Additionally, IER produces a detailed customer feedback report, offering actionable recommendations for enhancing the visitor experience.

Over the past three years, the festival has seen significant growth across several key metrics. Attendance has increased from 8,614 to 10,412, contributing to a tourism boost of over $3.4 million for the Clare Valley region.
