Economic Impact Study

The Suncorp Super Netball 2024 Grand Final took place at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Saturday, August 3, with the Adelaide Thunderbirds hosting the Melbourne Vixens. In front of 9,649 spectators, the Thunderbirds secured a thrilling 59-57 victory, becoming only the second team in Suncorp Super Netball history to win back-to-back premierships.

Netball Australia engaged IER to assess the economic impact the event generated for South Australia. IER designed, programmed, and conducted an online survey targeting ticket buyers to collect data for the study. The analysis also included the economic contributions associated with the visiting team (Melbourne Vixens). Furthermore, IER developed the model used to evaluate the event’s influence on tourism and investment in the state.
